LUNGevity is providing scholarships to reimburse up to $500 in expenses for lung cancer advocates to participate in the OVAC Grassroots Lobby Day. These funds may be used to cover the costs of lodging and travel, which may include airfare, train tickets, gas and mileage if driving, as well as ground transportation to attend Hill Day activities including taxis, rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft, or public transportation. Scholarship funds may also be used to cover up to two nights of lodging in the Washington, DC area.

     By applying for and accepting a scholarship, recipients agree to participate in OVAC Grassroots Lobby Day activities on March 4th and 5th, 2024, including the in-person participant training and meetings with congressional offices. Recipients agree to abide by any rules or guidelines set by the organizers of the OVAC Grassroots Lobby Day as part of their participation in the event.

     Scholarship awardees should keep all receipts for expenses that they would like to have reimbursed. A reimbursement form will be provided, and the completed form can be returned to LUNGevity with receipts. Once received, LUNGevity will process the reimbursement request and issue a check for the approved amount in approximately 30 days.

     LUNGevity cannot provide reimbursement to individuals who are awarded the scholarship but are unable to attend the OVAC Grassroots Lobby Day due to unforeseen circumstances. Participants are encouraged to purchase refundable tickets if they are concerned about their ability to attend the event in person.
